Leadership style is much like a personality, everyone has a different one and it changes and grows over time. Leading is about much more than managing in a work environment, it starts when you make plans with your friends or lead a project at school and each scenario requires something different. My current leadership skills include some but not all my future goals for how I want to lead, and the skills that I do have can be improved upon. When I get the opportunity to move into a leadership position in the workplace I want my biggest emphasis to be on good communication with everyone around me. Communication is where being a good leader begins, everything else relies on being able to get your messages and expectations across to those who work above and below you on the hierarchy. Communication is what gets you the job, moves you up in a company, helps others to move up, creates and focuses goals, and so much more every day in the workplace. As a communication major I have studied firsthand how quickly a situation can get out of hand if something is poorly communicated and how well teams cooperate when everyone is on the same page. I have built up my written and speaking skills through class work and projects I have lead and put the greatest emphasis on communication when leading. Many of the skills we have learned about link back to communication, so it is through communication I will frame the leadership skills I would like to see myself exemplify.
As consumers leave popular mediums in the past, they enter a new medium free of regulation or censorship including sexual content and explicit language. This lack of regulation and inclusion of the Net Neutrality law are meant to leave an open, democratic forum for consumers to express their ideas without fear of reprimanding. However, this lack of regulation can also be a nuisance when it produces the spread of fake news across social media platforms. Advertising is held to strict standards of truthfulness, requiring clear, concise wording to prevent possible misinterpretations of a product. As advertisers promote their product they are relying on large platforms such as Google and Facebook to regulate and filter false news so their products are not associated with it. It can reflect poorly on the advertiser and the platform to promote false news meant to mislead consumers.
